Q: Do I need a doctors referral to see a physiotherapist?

A: No - we have direct access for our health care services (CPA Website, 2011).  We are primary health care professionals that do not require a referral.  Nonetheless, it is very important to inform your doctor and keep open communication between both your physiotherapist and family physician.

Q: How much does a physiotherapy session cost and is it covered by the government?

A: Physiotherapist private rates vary from 60 to 100 dollars and coverage is individual specific.  In BC, the medical service plan (MSP) provides 10 "free" visits for individuals who are classified as "low income" or “Premium Assistance (MSP Website, 2011 (provide link here),  [http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/msp/]).  Other individuals have extended health care coverage.   A common extended health plan covers up to $500 or 80% of each visit.  Some health care insurers require a physician’s referral for reimbursement from your physiotherapist.  Please check with your extended health care carrier for concerns/questions or discuss with your physiotherapist. Q: How fast will I be able to see a physiotherapist?

A:  We serve our clients on a first come first serve basis and make every effort to return your email or telephone call within 24 hours to set up an appointment!

Q: How many treatments will I need?

A: Every condition is individually specific.  We base our evaluation on the person, the severity of the condition, and the goals/expectations Of the client. Your physiotherapist will advise you of an appropriate treatment plan and timeline after your initial assessment.
